Is there a quick and easy way to come up with a news story idea

One of the quickest ways of getting publicity is to tie in with something that’s already happening in the news. Why? Because journalists are always looking to do more stories on the one topic. If you can offer a comment and give your opinion on something topical you have a greater chance of being noticed instantly. For example… given the hot topic of the federal election there are many story opportunities such as:

1. Leadership coach: analyzing the leadership styles of Rudd and Abbot

2.  Dietitian: How Rudd and Abbot can maintain their energy on the election trail

3. Body language expert: Give insights into what is really being communicated by the leaders during their debates
Plus many more!

This strategy can apply to anything and everything – from the election, to the crisis in the AFL, to what’s happening in your local area.  So, think about how you can tie in to what’s happening in the news, then write a press release and send it out!
